#### Following are the steps for UEFI based Installation for the impatient.

1. Download Hamara from hamaralinux.org
2.

## Pre Installation setup

If you want to install Hamara on your desktop/laptop either doing a dual boot with windows or making Hamara the only OS on your system, you need to do the following steps before you can perform the actual installation on your system.

#### 1. Obtain and Prepare Installation Media
Download the ISO for Installation of hamara from hamaralinux.org. After downloading the ISO you can choose two methods for installing using the ISO
    1. Burn the ISO to a DVD and use the DVD for installation
    2. Make a bootable pen drive using the ISO and use the pen drive for installation

Burning the ISO to a DVD is pretty straight forward, you can use the disk burning software of your choice and use the 'Burn ISO to DVD' option. Within a few minutes, you would have the DVD ready for installation.

Making a bootable pen drive using the ISO is also easy and more eco friendly(no more DVD's). Various different softwares are available to do this. But we reccommend using [Etcher](http://etcher.io) It is supported both on Windows and Linux distributions and is easy and reliable to use.

#### 2. Prepare Windows to share your computer
If you are doing a dual boot setup with windows, then you need to do some changes on windows to make sure the Installation gets done smoothly.

  1. Backup windows on External storage mediums or on DVDs
Instructions for backing up your computer is available on Microsofts website. Although this is not always necessary but is still recommended to recover from any loss of data that may occur if the installation is not performed correctly.

  2. Disable Fast startup
Windows 8/8.1/10 have a feature called Fast Startup. When it is enabled -- and it is enabled by default -- Windows shuts down in a hybrid state, somewhere between a full shutdown and a "sleep" state. So when fast startup mode is enabled, Windows actually never performs a full shutdown of the system. In this state, the state of hard disk partitions is locked. With such locked state of hard disk the Installer of Hamara won't be able to read the patitions in live mode, nor it will be able to perform any operations(resize) on it. You must therefore disable Fast Startup to make Hamara install smoothly. Just how to do that is best left to the documentation of your particular version of Windows.

  3. Partition For Hamara Installation
You will probably want to resize your Windows system partition to make room for Hamara. If you already have some unallocated space or a separate hard drive for Hamara, that’s perfect. Otherwise, it’s time to resize that existing Windows partition so you can make space for a new Hamara partition.

You can do this in several ways. Installer for Hamara allows you to resize Windows NTFS partitions, so you can do this during the installation process. However, you may just want to shrink your Windows system partition from within Windows itself to avoid any potential problems.

To do so, open the Disk Management utility — press Windows Key + R, type diskmgmt.msc into the Run dialog, and press Enter. Right-click the Windows system partition — that’s likely your C:\ drive — and select “Shrink Volume.” Shrink it to free up space for your new Hamara Linux system.

  3. Disable Secure boot
